Coming for 5th Graders—Join us for Graduate's Club and enjoy Lunch, Games, and Bible Study once a month in the Community Building!

Once a month we will keep the kids after church Sunday morning. We’ll feed them pizza and snacks that we might not give the younger kids (Hostess cupcakes, a soda, etc.). There will be some games and fun stuff too. We want it to feel like an exciting privilege to be a part of this, a perk for being the oldest in the Kid’s Ministry. More importantly, we are also going to spend about 45 minutes digging into some of the most important themes of Scripture. We will finish up every time at 2 PM.

There is a program on YouTube called The Bible Project. A team in Portland, OR has been producing engaging videos for a few years that explain books of the Bible, important Bible words, and biblical themes in plain terms. We will use those videos to build lessons that will help expand your child’s understanding of how the whole Bible works together. Specifically, we will be watching their videos on the Law, the Image of God, Holiness, Sacrifice and Atonement, Messiah, the Gospel of the Kingdom, and the Day of the Lord. We will watch one video a week and walk slowly through what it teaches.

This is a partnership between the Middle School Ministry and the Children's Ministry. Sandy and Sydney will both be teaching and hanging out with the kids. The goal is to transition the kids smoothly from Children's Ministry to Middle School Ministry.

We will meet once per month every month between October and May. For more information contact Sandy Stephenson (sstephenson@docc.org or 205-807-9619).

DOORS WILL OPEN AT 5:15 PM-PLEASE DO NOT SAVE SEATS

SHOW STARTS AT 6 PM

Our musical for 2024 is “The Star Factor” by Christy Semsen. The setting is Camp Heart & Soul, a summer arts camp that features a talent showcase with an exciting twist: this year, the showcase winner earns the opportunity to compete on a national TV show, “The Star Factor!” The camp has asked the show’s host, Johnny Surfcrest, to be the camp’s celebrity coach…but he sends a replacement, an eager wannabe named Rick Bricklebee, who tells the children to“look out for yourself and no one else if you want to be…a star!”

The spring musical is a highlight of the year for many families in our community. Children do not have to be members of our church to participate. Our doors are open to all children (Grades K-5th grade) to come and be a part of presenting this wonderful musical!

The musical will be presented on Sunday evening, March 16 at 6 pm. Doors will open at 5:15 pm and we ask that you please do not save seats. We look forward to watching our STARS SHINE!

Advent, the season of celebrating Jesus coming to earth, begins December 1st. To help your family celebrate all season long, we invite you to walk through a family Advent devotional alongside us. It's called Promises Made, Promises Kept.

Every Sunday and Wednesday leading up to Christmas, you and your family will read a short Bible story about how God promised to come and solve our sin problem. Then each day from Christmas Eve to New Year's Eve, you'll read another Bible story about how that promise was fulfilled because of Jesus Christ! You can purchase the book at the Kids Check-In Desk for $15 (cheaper than Amazon!), and we will give you a bookmark for you with prayer prompts and to help you keep up with the schedule.

Join us as we seek to make the Christmas season a time to focus on the gift of Jesus!

No matter your life stage, Trunk or Treat is a great event to experience—enjoy the magician (shows at 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm), inflatables for the kids, popcorn, candy and more. The kids love walking around to the decorated cars to collect their candy (and the adults may enjoy dressing up and handing out candy at their cars even more)!

SUNDAY, OCT. 27, 2024 • 3PM - 5PM

MT. LAUREL SQUARE

If you worship with us regularly we would love for you to help serve our community through a variety of ways to help make this event a success! It takes a lot of help to throw a party this big.

First, please join us in praying for this outreach event! And what is Trunk or Treat without decorated Trunks and Games? We ask that you please consider signing up for a space! We also have some volunteer needs before, during and after the event. This is a great way to serve. Whether it is praying for this event, decorating your vehicle and manning your trunk with candy or donating your time before or after the event, we would really appreciate your help!
