Men’s Ministry
At Double Oak, we want men to experience connectedness. As men, we tend to isolate ourselves believing the lie that we can handle life on our own. The truth is we need other men around us to encourage, help, and challenge us along the way. We were designed to be in community. This is what Jesus does in our lives. He brings us into relationship with God, but also with others. He brings us out of isolation and into community.
Our goal in Men’s Ministry is to connect men in community leading to discipleship relationships. We seek to do this through events, Men’s Bible studies and men’s discipleship groups. For more information about our Men’s Ministry, please contact Steve Layton.
Men’s Bible Studies
This Spring at Double Oak-Mt Laurel we will have two Man Church Bible Study opportunities for men. We will be using the IMPACT, Video-driven Discipleship Curriculum. This semester of IMPACT will focus on the attributes of self-control and steadfastness.
In 2 Peter 1:5–8, Peter provides a list of attributes every Christian should pursue. Peter gave an excellent explanation for why striving to obtain these attributes is so important. He said that if Christ-followers “own” these attributes and continue to grow in them, their lives would be effective and fruitful for the Kingdom of God. This fruitfulness should be the goal of every mature Christian.
