Summer Sabbatical & Family Worship

Sundays in July is our SUMMER SABBATICAL at Double Oak Community Church. In addition, we will also enjoy FAMILY WORSHIP during this time.

SUMMER SABBATICAL is an important time of rest and renewal for our leaders. During this time we will not have Community Groups for any age.

For FAMILY WORSHIP on Sundays in July, our Kid (K-5th) will join parents in our main worship service (Double Oak Kids worship will not take place Sundays in July).

We think this is an important time in our church to both allow our leaders a time of rest and renwal while also modeling worship and enjoy receiving God's Word together.

Preschool (Birth-PreK) will continue to meet during both services all summer.

The Authentic Family Workshop

The Authentic Family Workshop

In the past year our community has walked through losing both kids and adults to suicide. Parents and families want to be able to help those they love process these difficult and sensitive events. Even more they want to maintain regular dialogue to keep up with their loved ones’ health and help plant them deeply in their Gospel-shaped identity. We want our families to be firmly rooted in hope and strength through Jesus Christ so they can endure hurt and anxiety.

Join us February 10th from 9 am-noon at the Chelsea Campus as we are led by local licensed counselors who will prepare us for authentic conversations with our families that can equip them to respond to hopelessness, loneliness, and all sorts of pain with God’s love.

Tickets are $25 per family, and limited childcare is available for an additional $10 per family.

Children's Musical

Children's Musical

The spring musical is a highlight of the year for many families in our community. Children do not have to be members of our church to participate. Our doors are open to all children to come and be a part of presenting this wonderful musical!

Each year our Children's Musical is a full scale production with lights, choreography, drama, and lots of special effects! The musical provides opportunities for many children to have special parts. Kids can try out for solos, speaking parts or to be part of a choreography group. Only kids in Grades 2-5 are eligible to try out for a part, but everyone who participates will get to be part of the choir!

This year’s musical is “Kingdom Connection” by Christy Semsen. This musical takes place at The Kingdom Connection Museum, a place where the Bible comes to life!  It is an interactive museum, and as the kids walk through the museum, they meet various biblical kings, including King David and King Solomon, as well as less popular characters like King Herod and King Saul.  As we prepare for the musical, the kids will memorize scriptures and study the spiritual concepts taught in the songs.  It is our hope and prayer that each child who sings these songs will learn God’s truths displayed through the lives of these kings.

  • Kick Off Night is Wednesday, January 18 – 6:00-7:30 PM

  • Rehearsals begin on Wednesday, January 25, and continue each Wednesday through March 19. Wednesday night rehearsals are held from 6:30-7:30 PM.

  • Auditions for solos, speaking parts and choreography groups (for kids in Grades 2-5) are Wednesday, February 1, 5:00-6:30 PM.

  • Dress Rehearsal is Saturday, March 18, 10-12 noon.

  • The musical will be presented on Sunday evening, March 19, 6:00 PM.
