THRIVE LUNCHEON
TUESDAY, FEB. 13
11:30 AM
MT LAUREL WORSHIP ROOM
Join us on Tuesday, Feb. 13, for our first Thrive Ministry luncheon and performance by Ali Mims. She is currently a sophomore at Chelsea High School and will be singing and presenting the heart of her musical foundation, which ministers to and teaches special needs children.
Ali recently hosted a talent show (held at DOCC) to raise money for the purchase of instruments for students with disabilities. Forty students participated in the first annual talent show and it raised thousands of dollars to purchase instruments for the special needs class at Mt Laurel Elementary School. The money was also used to send instruments to students at Amigos Academy in Nicaragua who needed instruments in order to have music classes. Ali has also authored a book titled “Make Music With Joy” which can be purchased on Amazon. She was able to donate her book to all of these students along with all of the instruments. Ali started a program almost two years ago called Joyful Noise. She advocates for students with special needs, who utilize instruments for music therapy.
Ali is active in the Miss America program and as such has competed and won the “Miss Hoover” title. She and her family attend Metro Church of God here in Birmingham where her mom serves as choir director for the great Metro Adult Choir. We have hosted her mom, Haley several times to sing in programs and special events for us at DOCC.
We eagerly invite you to come hear this talented and gifted young lady as she sings and tells us more about her foundation “Joyful Noise” that utilizes music to minister and teach special needs children in Shelby County. She will have her very own book, and coloring book available for viewing or purchasing at this event.
We would LOVE to see you all at our first Thrive Luncheon of 2024!
