Meet our Discipleship Pastor candidate, Steve Layton!

Steve has been serving churches in Alabama and Tennessee for more than 30 years. He has degrees from Samford University and the New Orleans Baptist Seminary (Master of Divinity; Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and Administration). Steve describes himself as a minister and disciple maker whose calling is to equip and encourage people on their journey toward Christ-likeness. In that calling, Steve has led discipleship ministries in churches ranging from small communities to multisite megachurches where he developed and oversaw the discipleship process for 8 campuses. He has served as a discipleship and groups coach and strategist to churches throughout Alabama and taught discipleship courses at the New Orleans Baptist Seminary’s extension in Birmingham. Steve is passionate about making disciples that make disciples and investing in the next generation of leaders.

Most importantly, Steve loves Jesus. Steve also loves his wife, Melinda. They have just celebrated their 25th anniversary. They have five grown children and five grandchildren.

Come meet Steve this coming Sunday, March 19th, in both community group hours in room 2 next to Connections.
