Week 4: The Spectacular Growth of Good Soil

Jesus says that those who are good soil will produce, 100, 60, and 30 fold from the initial seed that was planted. There is no limit to what God can do in any person fully surrendered to the Lord! What would it look like to see that kind of growth in each of us?
Week 3: Good Soil Needs Clear Ground

If I’m saved then it will all work out right? Not necessarily. God wants us to grow spiritually but that requires space and time to grow. If we’re too busy or too preoccupied with the world we actually starve out our spiritual potential. Being good soil means ordering our life so we have space and time to grow.

In the Parable of the Sower Jesus alerts us to the fact that we don’t all react to Him in the same way. Some people are hard, others shallow, and others too busy. But others are good soil! And in those people Jesus does a miracle: he produces spiritual fruit far beyond what anyone could imagine! We want to be good soil that the Lord cultivates to see that kind of spiritual growth in ourselves and the world around us. This series will walk through the parable and examine each of the types of people referenced so that we can become the good soil Jesus is looking for.

It’s possible for all of us to see stunning spiritual growth. It’s also possible to be unfruitful in our relationship with Jesus. Which are we? This week we will look at the Parable of the Sower, God’s desire for all to hear, and why some people can’t seem to hear God’s Word.
Week 10: Believing Begets Believing

Jesus also prays for our unity as His people. Our belief isn’t just affecting us. It’s also affecting those around us for good or for ill. Christ’s desire is that together we would believe and that this unity would lead others to believe in Him as well.
Week 6: Believe in the Holy Spirit

Main Passage: John 15:26–16:15; 14:25–31
Jesus teaches more on the Holy Spirit on this night than at any other time. It was a startling concept for the apostles just like it is for many of us. Do we believe that the Holy Spirit lives in us? If so, are we actively interacting with Him and relying on His power?
Week 5: Believe in the Vine

Main Passage: John 15:1–11
In one of the most encouraging texts of the Bible Jesus invites us to abide in Him and promises to abide in us. What would an abiding relationship with Him look like? And is that possible for all of us. Jesus asks us to believe Him that it is, and that this life is better than anything the world could offer.

What do you believe? It’s an important question! The answer will define who you are and how you live your life. Which is why Jesus spends a lot of time talking about our belief. On the last night before the crucifixion Jesus taught his disciples a lot. He spoke of how they should lead, how they should love, the Holy Spirit, and more. But one theme runs through all these teachings: the need to believe. Because belief in Jesus is the cornerstone of the gospel and our entire life of faith. Will we truly believe in Jesus?
Week 1: Believe in Jesus the Savior

Throughout his last discourse with His Disciples Jesus called them to believe in Him. There are consequences if we do and if we don’t. As believing leads to eternal life it is imperative we answer the question: Do we believe?

Week 3: God With Us
Main Passages: Hebrews 2:14-18, Matthew 1:22-23, Hebrews 4:14-26
Now that Jesus has taken on human nature, what does that mean for our relationship with Him? The Incarnation opens up a door for the Lord to be with us in a brand new way. He can sympathize with our weaknesses. He prays and intercedes for us. He is our faithful high priest. Christmas invites us into a truly intimate relationship with God. Will we receive such a gift? No wonder the angels are singing!
