MidWeek

MidWeek at Double Oak is a semester-based ministry designed for all ages to help people grow in spiritual maturity and live in spiritual community. During our MidWeek semesters we begin with an evening meal in our Commons and Worship Room (5:30 pm -6:10 pm) for the family. You can see the weekly menu (and click to RSVP) below.

During MidWeek Spring & Fall Semesters adult discipleship classes will meet on Wednesday nights. Our MidWeek classes are built around seven spiritual foundations found in the life of a disciple of Jesus, discovery classes to help people connect with Christ and our church family, men and women’s gender based studies, andshort term classes focusing on spiritual growth, leadership development, and hot topics.

While adult classes are meeting, there are also studies specifically designed for Preschool (birth-PreK), Kids (K-5th), Middle School (6th-8th) and High School (9th-12th). Click on the links provided below for more information on their schedules.

GOD’S UNFOLDING STORY | C-13 | STEVE DIEHL

The Bible, in and of itself, is a miracle. Think about it. Over centuries of time, God supernaturally moved in a number of men’s hearts, leading them to record the exact words of God. God then guided His people to recognize these divine writings and to distinguish them from everything else that had ever been written. Later, God’s people brought together these 66 books. And these 66 books form a single story, revealing God’s plan for us and all his creation. Finally, God gave men technological knowledge to copy and transmit the Bible so all people could have it. All this took place because God has something to say to you. Following the DOCC New Testament reading plan, we will discuss key passages and our response to them. And we will examine the key biblical themes that weave together to give us the one, great story of redemption. Along the way we’ll be encouraged to share His story and our story with greater confidence. Book available for the discounted price of $10.

Journey to the Cradle | C-12| LED BY WILL COLLINS

Join us for an exploration of the culmination of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ in Journey to the Cross. This is the second session of a two-part Christology study and is designed for those seeking a deeper understanding of Jesus’ divine identity and earthly ministry. Journey to the Cross will take an in depth look at the Passion Week, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and his final days on earth before His ascension. Through scripture study and discussion, we’ll see how the journey to the cross  and resurrection is not only the culmination of Christ’s life on earth, but part of the larger unfolding story of  redemption.

Theology for Every Person – God | C-14 | David Watson

Knowing, loving, and worshiping God is the call and privilege of every disciple of Jesus. Because all Christians are part of his royal priesthood, theology is not just for those teaching in the academy or serving in ministry vocations. Theology proper centers on God, exploring his existence, his divine nature, his Persons and his attributes. In this course  you will find an overview of these truths in the doctrine of God as well as other great truths in the doctrine of divine revelation. You are not simply setting out on a journey toward deeper knowledge. If theological study only results in knowing abstract truths about God, then we have not done theology well. Right theology invariably leads to right living and right worship, and this is our ultimate goal in this class and in this life. God is the first class of a three-part series entitled Theology for Every Person. The other classes will include God’s Word to the World, which considers God in Christ and his works of creation, humanity, and redemption, and God’s Work in the World, which explores God the Holy Spirit and the divine works of salvation, the church, and the end.

To the Ends of the Earth: Global & Local Mission Spotlights | Café’ | LED BY TOM CASH & missions partners

God’s story of love and grace knows no boundaries. Come hear what the Holy Spirit is doing locally, nationally, and around the world through DOCC’s mission partnerships. Each week we will welcome one of our missionary partners to share stories, updates, and insights from their work here and around the world. This class invites you to engage, ask questions, and broaden your understanding of local and global missions. Together we will explore practical ways that we can join in the Mission.

Anchored in Truth: Life-Changing Biblical Doctrine

MEN’S GROUP | C-23 | LED BY Bobby Wilson

WOMEN’S GROUP | C-21 | LED BY Lolly Wilson

Do you want a feast instead of settling for crumbs? Do you long to have a closer relationship with God? To enjoy intimacy with God, you must spend time with Him and delve into truth in the Bible. We read in 2 Timothy 3:16–17, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Join us and enjoy the breath of God! We will spend 14 weeks inductively studying the Bible to explore various essential topics that will anchor us in truth and lead to a vibrant Christian life. This MidWeek class will be a discussion based on about 2.5 hours of independent study. Your own study of God’s Word will be the feast!

MAN CHURCH | C-11 | LED BY MARK BERTHIAUME

The standard of Christian living we are to pursue is the Spirit-driven example set by the early Church. The book of Acts paints a powerful picture of the difference the Holy Spirit makes. The bold lives of influence lived by the Apostles and the other New Testament Christians were a far cry from the oftentimes weak faith they demonstrated pre-Pentecost. Part of why we have the book of Acts is for us to be challenged by the impactful faith of the people we read about. We will follow The Man Church: THE STANDARD Curriculum. The Standard equips men’s small groups to explore the difference the Holy Spirit makes in our lives: Boldness, Awe, Suffering, Oneness, Peace, Evangelism, Obedience, A New Goal. This study incorporates Rick Burgess video resources in addition to Bible Study and interactive conversation.

Divorce Care | Annex | LED BYBud & Mary Ussery

If you or someone you know is walking through separation or divorce, you are not alone. Divorce Care is a safe place to process, heal, and experience God’s restoration. Our DivorceCare leaders, Bud and Mary Ussery have been married 22 years, blending two families into ONE Christ-centered home. Mary says, “It hasn’t been easy, marriage is hard, and blending families can be even harder, but by God’s grace, we’ve raised four kids successfully to become thriving adults and are still raising one. We’ve personally taken Divorce Care twice before marrying and led it once as a couple, so we know the difference this ministry can make.” Statistics show 41% of first marriages end in divorce, 60% of second marriages, and 73% of third marriages—reminding us how critical it is to find hope and healing in Christ.
