For our 20th anniversary, our pastor’s wife, Alison Robinson, led 100 kids in a collaborative art project—each child painting one small square that, when combined, formed a picture of our church building. Here is her description of the project:

"The process was exactly what you’d imagine: 100 children with acrylic paint, trying not to get it on their clothes. Like herding cats--very cute, very beloved cats—some of whom I’ve known since infancy.

When I saw each square on its own, I worried it might never come together. But when we assembled the pieces, I teared up. It worked. It looks just like our church—colorful, cohesive yet chaotic— exactly how church feels long-term.

In scripture the Body of Christ is described as a body or a marriage with individual pieces coming together – there’s a mystery to it. Here, it’s painted in patchwork of color and joy and hundreds of tiny, messy brushstrokes of grace."
